Dangerous Goods Training

For over 20 years, Transportation Development Group, LLC, (TDG) has been an industry leader in providing Dangerous Goods (HazMat) training for shippers, forwarders and carriers. TDG offers a variety of online Hazardous Materials (Dangerous Goods) training options including:

Online Webinars

Onsite Training

Online Training Courses

Classroom Training Courses

TDG LLC trains thousands of students each year and we invite you to talk with some of our global clients.

Additionally, TDG provides free technical support and penalty mitigation (see below).

All of our programs are designed to help you meet the U.S. Department of Transportation’s four training requirements:

(1) General Awareness Training;

(2) Security Awareness Training;

(3) Safety Training; and

(4) Function Specific Training.

We provide a wide variety of delivery options to meet your particular needs and budget.

Online Webinars

The course is delivered by a live instructor through an Online Webinar session. Students can be located anywhere in the country (or around the world). We customize materials for you based on the product(s) you ship. You can email us photos of your packaging and other supporting technical information and we will design a customized training program. A typical multi-modal webinar for a single product or two is around 4 hours. This training option is most cost effective when you have 4 or more people.

Onsite Training

The course is delivered by an instructor who comes to your facility. From a half day to three days we come to your facility, review your shipping procedures and packaging, and use this information to customize an in-person training class. Usually, the on-site training is most cost effective with 6 or more people. This training is available anywhere in the world. We have taught these classes throughout the US, in Hong Kong and even in Saudi Arabia.

For BOTH Onsite Training and Online Webinars, we work with you to design a customized training program including a shipping guide that teaches employees how to ship your specific products.

Online Training Courses

The student works independently on the training program(s). TDG has over 70 online courses to choose from including a full IATA (Air), IMDG (Ocean) and DOT (Ground) acceptance programs starting at $295 USD per course. We also feature other function-specific programs focusing on Lithium Batteries, Consumer Commodities, Infectious Substances, and many others at a cost of $195 to $225 each. You can see a complete listing of our online courses. The courses can be taken at any time and you have 3 months to complete the program and the exam(s). We do offer multiple student discounts for 10 or more students enrolling at one time. We have had thousands of people using our online training on every continent!

Classroom Training Courses

We offer 1,2 and 3 day IATA Air Initial and Recertification (Recurrent) training classes. Public classes are held several times a year in Los Angeles and Honolulu.  See our 2014 classroom training course schedule.

HazMat Penalty Mitigation

We can help you if you are facing a hazmat penalty investigation or have received a Notice of Probable Violation or letter of Investigation from the FAA or DOT. It is so important that you take action immediately -- the very same day you get a notice from the authorities saying that they're "looking into" a possible violation. Don't be lulled into complacency because the agent says "oh, we're just putting a few facts together". While the agents are honest, and not trying to deceive anyone, sometimes it's out of their hands and handed over to the government attorneys. Many shippers are surprised after a visit with a Special Agent that they get a notice of Proposed Civil Penalty or a Notice of Probable violation weeks or months later by registered mail.

Call Jim Powell at 1-800-949-4834 to discuss this immediately or email jim@dgtraining.com.
